Are you an employee with many years of service with a good organization, who has recently come to understand that you are transgendered?

And while you would like to transition to your  “true gender” on the job, you really don’t know who to approach, or where to  begin; and you are afraid to  jeopardize your  established career track record.

...or...

Are you employer who has recently had a valued employee “come out” as transgendered AND expressed a desire to perform a gender transition while on the job.

While you want to accommodate this employee’s request, and handle it with dignity and respect; you really don’t know where to begin.

…perhaps I can help...

My name is Jacqueline Marchwinski. I am a 57-year-old, post-operative, male-to-female transsexual.  I am recently retired from Johnson & Johnson where I went to work as John for 25 years, and Jackie for the last three.

My workplace gender transition was flawless. It went better than I ever imagined. What I came away with from this experience is; YES, you can do this with a little bit of planning and the right amount of management support.

This is not to say that what worked for me at Johnson & Johnson will work for everyone. In fact, the other thing I am convinced of is that every workplace gender transition is unique. Unique both in terms of the person transitioning AND the organization in which they are transitioning.

While each workplace transition is unique, there are aspects which all workplace transitions have in common. The need for an overall transition plan, a detailed communication strategy, a training approach, etc., are common to all workplace transitions.

This is where I believe I can help. Based on my own experience, as well as that of others I have advised, I believe I can provide a framework of the components of a detailed transition plan. The specific details of each component can then be tailored to meet the unique needs of the transitioning employee and organization, thus providing a customized approach, and increasing the likelihood of success.
